I wanted to write to tell you of my many marvelous experiences with your product Flora Balance (laterosporus BOD strain). My first use of FB was last spring when I went to the health food store seeking strong acidophilus powder to sprinkle over my dogs’ food. For years now, and in spite of rigorous (fanatic) sanitation I have had recurring diarrhea and/or loose smelly stools in my dog population. Occasionally, I have puppies available from my expensive champion bloodline Labrador Retrievers. Every time, it seems, as the pups experience their first stress in life: i.e. exiting the house & pen for the outdoor pen, weaning from mommie and adapting to solid food etc.. I would get this loose stool which evolved into diarrhea rapidly, the pups would then stagger from lack of nourishment, despite healthy appetite, have extended belly with gas and lethargy etc... conditions which would continue and result in fatalities in six-week-old pups. After many years of this syndrome, once diagnosed as coccidiosis, but at other times testing negative as it is frustrating to diagnose bacterial/amoebic problems - I tired of taking stool samples to the vet and having puppies on constant antibiotics – they just would not get rid of the problem. It kept coming back awhile after the antibiotics would cease in adult dogs and puppies both. I called many people with large kennels producing many puppies and asked their opinion. They give antibiotic “cocktails” to 6 week old pups, sick or not, as a matter of course. These cocktails typically contain 3 different antibiotic type medicines each! I don’t like giving antibiotics to animals, especially when the problem doesn’t go away anyhow. A friend suggested that I use acidophilus powder so I ended up at the health food store reading labels and I saw Flora Balance… I took it home and sprinkled it on the food of those very ill puppies and withheld antibiotics. They seemed perkier the first day; their stools seemed to take form. The 2nd day I gave again FB on food, their stools were formed, some were soft, some were harder. The 3rd day the pups looked fine and I began to give the powder on the adult does food. All dogs on the property within a week had firm, dry and not smelly stools and the problem has not returned again to this day. I will never not have this product available for my dogs and myself. I consider it much stronger and more effective than antibiotics, antiflagellate drugs (I was giving the pups Tribessen). My love and best wishes C. Johnson |
